- Category: Research project (regional Research Collaboration)
- Duration: 2015 – 2016
- Funded by: Förderungsprogramm Regionale Forschungspartnerschaften, University of Siegen
- Project holder: University of Siegen
By integrating knowledge management and methods of artificial intelligence the quality in processes and the performance of production systems can be improved. The collaboration with the department of production control of SMS Siemag AG and the University of Siegen is targeting the aforementioned goal in theory and practice. The project has been established based on the preliminary scientific collaborations among the project participants.
The aim of the project is to enable structuring of the accumulated knowledge so that the documented knowledge can be retrievable and searchable. The main focus therefore is on the content traceability and retrievability towards ensuring accessibility of the knowledge for various thematic areas and application domains. Typical problem areas in the use of ontology in a company are structuring multiple topics and classification of new knowledge in the ontology. In addition, an incremental and dynamic knowledge structuring should be supported to assure provision of knowledge for various end-users holding various competency levels.
The coordinator of the project is the chair of Production and Logistic Management (PLM), Faculty III. The Institute of Knowledge Based Systems and Knowledge Management (KBS&KM), Department ETI, Faculty IV, is the project partner. SMS Siemag AG is the industry partner of this project.
