At the chair for Electrical Machines, Drives and Control (EMAS) automation systems are considered to be distributed and networked formations, in which devices of different type communicate with one another fast and reliably. Drives and devices with control functionality like industrial PCs or PLCs are components of these systems. The internal functions of the single components as well as their interactions are subject to the activities at the chair.

In case of the machines and drives fast control and modern actuators and their control methods are subject to our research activities as currently is the matrix converter. For signal processing DSPs and FPGAs are applied. In case of power electronics we are applying power semiconductors of the newest generation.
