Registration for coursework: before submission of the first (partial) assignment
Registration for coursework (e.g. compulsory submission of exercises, practical assignments, homework, seminars, project work, possibly also as preliminary examination work) must be made via unisono before the first (partial) assignment is submitted. Registration is activated in unisono from October 1, 2024 to March 24, 2025. As long as you are not registered for coursework, you cannot and may not submit any coursework! Please clarify any problems directly with the responsible chair. Please check the module descriptions (see below!) to see in which modules you have to complete coursework.

Registration for written examinations: up to 14 days before the examination
Registration for written examinations runs from December 2, 2024 until 14 days before the written examination (unisono calculates the exact time!).
Please note different deadlines for examinations in modules that are imported from other degree programs. Information on this can be found at the examination office of the exporting degree program.
The deadlines stated are hard; registration after the deadline is only possible in justified cases of hardship by submitting a written application to the Examination Board!

Registration for oral examinations: up to 7 days before the examination
Registration for oral examinations (online registration in unison and subsequent agreement of a date with the examiner) must be made at least one week before the examination date (preferably well in advance!). For third attempts, registration must be made via the Examinations Office at least two weeks before the examination date.
Important: Registered oral examinations or preliminary examinations or coursework that will no longer take place in the registered semester must be deregistered at least 8 days before the end of the semester. Unattended registrations for examinations, preliminary examinations and coursework will not be carried over to the following semester and it is no longer possible to deregister or re-register. In this case, you will automatically be entered with an NE (not passed / for graded achievements this means a 5.0

Deregistration: up to 7 days before the examination, notification of illness: up to 3 working days after the examination
Regular deregistration from examinations (i.e. without a medical certificate) is possible in unisono up to 7 days before the examination. Please note that the unisono system calculates this deadline based on the actual time of the exam.
In case of illness: Withdrawal (please use the withdrawal form) must be submitted to the Examination Office in writing or by e-mail as a PDF within 3 working days (FPO 2023) or 5 working days (PO 2013) after the examination together with the medical certificate or certificate of incapacity for work; do not send the sick note to the examiner's chair. (If submitted by post, the postmark applies.)

Project Work / Master Thesis
Project Work (Studienarbeit § 11)
Master theses cannot be awarded until the candidate has earned at least 80 credit points in the master‘s exam and has only one attempt left in any subject exam.
The registration form should be filled out on a PC, singed by both the examiner and the candidate and submitted to the responsible examination office promptly.
The regular timeframe for the completion of a master thesis is 6 months. Two hard copies and a digital copy of a thesis should be submitted to the examination office prior to the submission deadline personally.
A reasoned extension request of the thesis must be submitted in a written form by the student including an agreement of the supervisor at least 2 weeks before deadline. This request does not mean that the extension is automatically approved. Approval will be done case by case by the head of the examination office.

Examination registration
All academic achievements, excluding theses, improvements (free attempts) and third attempts should be registered through unisono in good time.
It might be helpful to make screenshots of the messages (for example of the registration confirmation or errors) while signing in through unisono.
The registrations for exams should be done separately from the registrations for the respective lectures. It means that a registration for a lecture is not a requirement for an exam. -

Oral exams in supplement (extension exams)
In case of a failed first written subject exam or failed written repeated subject exam students have the opportunity to take an oral exam in supplement, which should be normally held within 4 weeks after the disclosure of the grades for the respective written exam. A successful oral exam in supplement can be assessed with a grade 4,0 “adequate” only.

Deregistration of oral exams / project groups
Please make sure that you get deregistered from oral exams / project groups through unisono in case if these exams shall take place in the next term and not in the current term. Otherwise you shall not be able to get registered for the required term.

Seminars, student placements and project groups
The registration should be done through unisono.

Third attempts
According to § 26 section 1 „Resitting subject exams“ of the General Rules for exams a third exam attempt is permissible in the form of an oral exam.
Third attempts can be only registered in the responsible examination office personally. Please inform both the examiner and the examination office in case of a third attempt.
Please fill the registration form out, sign it (both the student and the chair) and submit it to the examination office personally. -
Deregistration / Withdrawal with a medical certificate
A regular deregistration through unisono is permissible 7 days prior to the date of the relevant exam, whereat for written exams it is important to consider the exact time of the beginning of the exam. It means if an exam starts on the 8th of March at 9:00 a.m. you are allowed to deregister through unisono on the 1st of March until 8:59 a.m. at the latest.
In case of an illness students have to provide the examination office with the original medical certificate along with the deregistration form within 5 working days after the date of the missed exam.

Preliminary draft of the examination regulations with module manual and study plans from the winter semester 2023/24 on.
The English translation of the preliminary draft of the examination regulations (from winter semester 2023/24) is expected to take place in spring 2024. Until further notice, anyone wishing to change to the new examination regulations can only do so on the basis of the information in the German preliminary draft of the examination regulations.

The preparation of the final documents usually takes 3 weeks after application.
