Advanced Semiconductors and Microelectronics
Advanced Semiconductors and Microelectronics I
Its a masters level course generally taught in the Summer semester every year.
Module leader: Prof. Dr. B. Choubey
Lecturer: Prof. Choubey and members of the chair
Language: English
Learning Outcomes
In small groups of 3-4 students and under the supervision from the institute, the students will analyse research level microelectronics and semiconductor systems. Depending on the interest of the students, a topic from the current developments in the field of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits will be selected. This may include Advanced CMOS Design with Finfets, Simulation Models, Integrated Optical and Power devices, Memristors, sensing, neuromorphic circuits. The students will learn advance use of simulation software. They will also undertake preparation and execution of a lecture following the coursework. The course will provide them with experience of professional teamwork, knowledge transfer, impact, presentation skills as well as problem solving. Knowledge and competences will enable students to gain advanced positions in the industry as well as research institution.
Syllabus
The course Advanced Semiconductor and Microelectronics deals with various current developments in the fields of Microelectronics. It is intended to specifically address topics not covered in semiconductor electronics and analogue circuits course. The course ASME 1 is divided into two parts: Laboratory internship with accompanying preparations or exercises and lecture with accompanying seminars or Exercises. The content of the lecture ASME is not fixed but changes with each new lecture series. Possible topics include e.g. Advanced CMOS Design with Finfets, Simulation Models, Integrated Optical and Power devices, Memristors, Neural Network systems and advanced integrated sensors. Each student will work under the guidance of a supervisor and will present a lecture of 30 minutes at the end of the course.
